Do you have any recommended books that discuss how to present procreation to young children (ages 5 -8) who have asked the question, "How do babies get into mommies' tummies?" in a Catholic, age-appropriate way? My children are starting to ask these types of questions, and I fear them getting the answers from their little friends or on the school bus. I never expected the questions this early and want to be prepared the next time they ask with an appropriate response.
If you're ever in the Raleigh area it would be good to stop by In His Name bookstore on Newton Rd. since they have a rather large selection of books in stock that might address this very important issue. I haven't had to deal with this question either and so I don't know what books are out there so I would have to physically thumb through what's out there. I think I remember seeing a good color booklet about conception showing an Angel beside the child from the moment of conception through development, I believe it was in Spanish but it looked pretty good. Actually a good book would be to compile kids' opinions on how the baby "gets in there" (assuming they're still operating out of innoncence and haven't been exposed to their class-know-it-all who loves to surf the net) and then adjust their thoughts to fit the reality and their capacity to grasp it. Kids actually have a great capacity for embracing what sounds bizarre and understanding it. I would leave out the mentioning of specific hardware until a later date. I hope you're able to find something useful, but if not then just let common sense guide you.
