Hello everyone and God bless: This is such a beautiful tradition that was practiced by Saint Faustina and those in her convent according to her diary. Each New Year they would place all the names of their favorite Saints in a basket and many names of Saints they did not yet know alot about and then each one would pick out a name of a Saint. This was alluded to as the Saint was actually picking them to be with them for the New Year and remain a Patron Saint forever. While doing this they promised to "get to know" this Saint by reading about them and through prayer. Also have to pray to this Saint on a daily basis. I have been doing this (and my daughter) since 2001 and I have had so many beautiful Saints take an interest in me and my poor life. Try it! Tricia Goguen
